Wigan Warriors have given their supporters plenty to cheer in 2026. Under head coach Matt Peet, the club finished the regular season as Super League leaders, recording 27 wins from 32 matches, and lifted the Challenge Cup with victory over Hull KR in the final at Wembley.

The season ended with a play-off semi-final exit, a disappointment for a club with such high standards, but topping the table over a long campaign remains a considerable achievement in one of rugby league's most competitive eras.

The year also marked the end of an era. In September captain Liam Farrell announced that he would retire from professional rugby league at the end of the 2026 season, closing a 17-season career with his hometown club.

His record speaks for itself: 428 appearances and 151 tries for Wigan, six Super League titles, five Challenge Cups and two World Club Challenge wins, plus 12 England caps. He had captained the side since 2023, and rather than leaving the club he is moving into its performance set-up.

The Brick Community Stadium continues to be the Warriors' home, and supporters turned out in strength, with an average home attendance of 15,937. Derby days were especially lively, with Wigan edging St Helens 16-14 at the Brick in July.

The stadium also hosted notable occasions beyond Wigan's own fixtures. In August the club staged a double-header, with Salford's Championship match against Swinton Lions taking place before Wigan played Toulouse.

Success runs through the club. The Academy reached its Grand Final, played at the Brick in September against Warrington Wolves after going unbeaten, and Wigan Warriors Women hosted the Women's Grand Final at the same ground, narrowly losing 8-6 to York Valkyrie.

With chief executive Kris Radlinski leading the club off the field, the Warriors continue to combine a strong first team with a pathway for young players and a growing women's game.

Fixtures, tickets and memberships are available through Wigan Warriors' official channels. A game at the Brick is one of the great sporting experiences in Greater Manchester.
