Robinsons Brewery raises a glass to its new Bredbury brewhouse

Few names are as woven into Stockport life as Robinsons. The family brewer has been making beer in the town since the nineteenth century, and today it is run by the sixth generation of the family, with cousins William and Oliver Robinson as joint managing directors.
The last couple of years have marked one of the biggest chapters in the company's story. Brewing at the historic Unicorn site on Lower Hillgate in Stockport town centre came to an end on 28 March 2025, as production moved three miles away to the company's site at Bredbury.
In December 2025 Robinsons announced that work on its £8.4m new brewhouse was complete, two years after it was first commissioned. The investment brings brewing and the wider business together on one site, a move first announced in 2022.
The new kit is already making a difference. The brewery reported that 500 brews had taken place at Bredbury, and that energy consumption had dropped by 12 per cent since the brewhouse was fully commissioned.
Cask beer remains at the heart of what Robinsons does. Across its pubs, cask sales are five times the on-trade average, making up 28 per cent of all beer sold, a figure that will cheer anyone who loves a well-kept pint.
The good news continued into 2026. In its latest results the brewer passed £100 million in turnover for the first time, with revenue of £103.5 million for the 2025 financial year, up from £97.7 million the year before. Managed pubs grew like-for-like sales by more than 10 per cent and cask volumes rose by around five per cent.
Robinsons has also kept investing in its estate, spending £6.9 million across 37 pubs during the year. For drinkers across Greater Manchester and beyond, that means refreshed locals as well as a brewery equipped for the future.
The best way to enjoy the story is with a pint in one of Robinsons' pubs. The brewery's website lists its pubs and beers, and is the place to look for news on visits and events.
