Levy Artisan Market brings stalls back to Levenshulme's much-loved site

Markets have long been at the heart of community life in Levenshulme, and in 2025 stalls returned to one of the area's best-loved spaces. Levy Artisan Market opened on the former Levenshulme Market site, giving residents a regular gathering place once again, and a reason for neighbours to spend time together on their own doorstep.
The site has a proud history. The volunteer-led Levenshulme Market ran for around ten years as a community interest company and won a Great British Market Award in 2020, becoming a much-loved fixture for the neighbourhood.
After that market paused in 2023, people in Levenshulme missed it. In the meantime, a makers market ran at Levenshulme Inspire, a community hub and café on Stockport Road, helping to keep the spirit of local trading alive until a permanent return to the old site became possible.
The new market is a partnership between Manchester City Council and Independent Street, an organisation that runs markets for independent traders. The council announced that Levy Artisan Market would launch on Sunday 13 April 2025.
It runs on the second Sunday of every month, giving local makers, food traders and small businesses a regular chance to meet customers. A night market follows on the last Friday of each month, adding an evening option for people who want to browse, eat and catch up with neighbours after work.
Manchester Wire welcomed the launch as the return of a much-loved market site, and for many residents it is a sign of the area's continuing community spirit. Markets like this support small independent businesses while bringing people together in a way few other events can.
For traders, the regular dates provide valuable opportunities to grow. For visitors, it is a chance to discover handmade goods, street food and local produce in one place, all within a short walk of Stockport Road.
Dates and trader information are shared by the organisers online, and it is worth checking the latest details before visiting, as seasonal events may be added through the year.
